The decision of international conference “The ore base of titanium in CIS - 2009”
November 12, 2009. Moscow.
Expansion of titanium ore base in CIS is important task in the face of constant growth of demand for raw products, semi-processed products, metal, its dioxides and other compounds both in CIS and abroad. Using titanium and its compounds is mostly perspective in lacquer, paint, paper, rubber, plastic production, also in aerospace, shipbuilding, automobile industry, atomic and chemical engineering. Titanium powder is used for filter production, perfumery, pharmaceutical, medical, food and electrode industries, also for industrial discharge refinement from poisons, fuel and oil filtration. Iron industry uses ferrotitanium and low-grade sponge titanium. Titanium ore areas distribute unevenly in CIS. As of 01.01.1991 RSFSR had 58.8% of reserves, Ukraine 40.2%, Kazakhstan 1%. The biggest mineral raw materials source is in Russia and ore base is in Ukraine. 40 deposits discovered in Ukraine and this number includes 2 unique, 12 major and 10 medium-scale deposits. 12 deposits were elaborated and given to industrial use, 8 out of 12 are being developed at the moment. The state took stock of 23 deposits and 6 out of them are being prepared for development by 01.01.2008. Deposits are of different genetic types but only gravel deposits are being developed at the moment. Ilmenite of Mezhdurechnoe and Valki-Gatskovskoe deposits (Irshanskaya group) are used for pigmental titanium dioxide production........
